York 9 win the '905 derby' as they claim their first win of the season against Forge FC

In the first '905 derby' to be played outside of Ontario Forge FC fell to a shock 3-2 defeat against York 9 who remain undefeated, claiming their first victory of the season.

Joseph Di Chiara's controversial second-half penalty fended off Forge's comeback as York 9 inflict the Hamilton side's first defeat since the Ontarian derby last season.

The 28-year-old Canadian was involved from the start when he was brought down on the edge of the 18-yard-area in the 28th-minute. Captain Manny Aparicio hit the free-kick onto the post, with the keeper beaten the ball rebounded kindly to Kyle Porter.

Porter reacted quickest, opening up his body and his right foot to slot the ball into the empty net to make it 1-0.

It only took 10-minutes for York to double their lead, Porter turning provider as his corner was headed in at the near post by Di Chiara. The 28-year-old drifted away from his marker, Kyle Bekker, before rising higher than Elimane Oumar Cissé and Monti Mohsen.

The second-half introduction of Chris Nanco turned the tide to almost immediate effect. The 20-year-old picking up the ball 35-yards outplayed a quick one-two with Paolo Sabak, chipped his way past Roger Thompson and finished with a scuffed shot to Nathan Ingham's left.

Much like for York 9 in the first-half, set-pieces had their part to play for Forge FC, as centre-back Daniel Krutzen lined up a left-footed shot from 25-yards out in the 52nd-minute.

Unlike the post in the first-half, it was Ingham who got his hands to the ball but could only put the ball back into the danger area. Ingham also saved Anthony Novak's rebound, but the 27-year-old Canadian keeper couldn't keep out the follow-up from Alexander Achinioti-Jönsson.

With the game level, it looked like Forge would press on their advantage and take the lead until, on the 58th-minute, York 9 were awarded a controversial penalty against Krutzen.

From a corner, rising highest at the back, youngster Lowell Wright's header hit Krutzen on the hand. Despite the centre-backs arms being by his side the official awarded a penalty, which was coolly converted by Di Chiara to make it 3-2.

Forge continued to press and threaten as the game went on but were unable to find another goal possibly feeling the strain of playing their 5th game in 13 days.

York 9's undefeated season continues as they register their first win, whereas Forge FC now run the risk of losing even further ground on top spot with just three games to go.

Man of the Match: Joseph Di Chiara
