A 97th-minute winner secured all three points for Hamilton-based side Forge, taking them to the top of the table, in a hard-fought win over Pacific.

Forge took the lead in the 18th minute when 25-year-old Canadian striker Chris Nanco drove into the box before curling a wonderful low shot past the bottom left of goalkeeper Nolan Wirth.

The lead was short-lived though as Pacific, who dominated the first-half, drew level in the 26th-minute. Zach Verhoven's corner finding it's way the Bustos at the back post who fired the ball into the six-yard area. Amongst the bodies were Thomas Meilleur-Giguère and Jamar Dixon.

Meilleur-Giguère was able to direct the ball goalward, only to see his shot saved by Triston Henry. The 26-year-old Forge keeper couldn't keep hold of the ball though as it fell kindly to Dixon - 3-yards out he wasn't going to miss.

The second-half introduction of Belgian Paulo Sabak helped change the tide for Forge who started to get more of the ball, dominating possession and chances. Pacific wasn't out of the game though with Bustos, who was subsequently replaced by Victor Blasco, both looking threatening.

After a series of wasted opportunities at either end, with Forge defender Daniel Krutzen hitting the post from a 25-yard free-kick and Blasco firing inexplicably high from an unmarked position around the penalty spot, it looked like the game would end all square.

However, in the 6th-minute of added time, Blasco missed another great chance to win the game for Pacific and substitute Terran Campbell's follow up couldn't beat the crossbar - with the West Coast team ruing their luck, Forge FC saw a chance on the break.

Sending the ball high and long, Elimane Oumar Cissé won a crucial header to free Molham Babouli. Driving to the byline, his inch-perfect cutback set the winner on a plate for captain Kyle Bekker, who adds to his personal goal tally, winning the game for Forge two goals to one.

The loss means that Pacific drop out of the playoff places into 6th but, three-points for Forge, see them leapfrog rivals Cavalry into first place - though Cavalry has a game in hand as they prepare to face Halifax Wanderers tomorrow night.
